I am hoping that this newsletter reaches you at the height of the Christmas Season. I want to wish you blessings as we celebrate the “word made flesh” in our presence as a people and a church. May the many blessings of Christmas descend on you and your family.
In this Winter issue of Bread Broken & Shared, we introduce you to the new editor of Emmanuel Magazine, Father John Christman SSS. I am confident in handing this ministry over to him after my several years as editor.
I share with you personnel changes that have occurred in the Province and ask you to pray for all of those who continue to carry on the mission of the Congregation in our Province
Three short reflections by the religious from mission provinces who preached in the USA this past summer are presented. We are most grateful for the generosity of the three of them: Father RaviEarnest Sebastin SSS from India, Father Marlon Reyes SSS from the Philippines and Brother Gilton Ferreira de Holanda SSS from Brazil/Argentina.
The Center for Eucharistic Evangelizing is an important ministry of the Province and continues its mission of excellent eucharistic catechesis and practice in the United States. Jim Brown, its director, shares two interesting pieces with us: New Associates in Winter Springs, Florida and a Parish Mission in Fort Worth, Texas. Our eucharistic charism continues to move around the country!
Father Ernest continues with his contribution to Bread Broken & Shared with an article on the Praying in the Spirit. Father Falardeau continues to keep the theme of Ecumenism before our eyes encouraging each of us to pray and work for Christian Unity, especially as the Annual World Octave of Prayer for Christian Unity takes place in January (January 18-25, 2020).
Scott Gongos, in his article entitled “Supporting Our Religious in Retirement” shares with us his enthusiasm for the religious and ministry of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament and Saint Ann’s Shrine. He tells you how you can help us out.
We hope that you find the time to read this entire issue and learn more about the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament and its ministry and mission – in this way, you can walk with us in the footsteps of our holy Founder, Saint Peter Julian Eymard.
Whatever financial gift you can make, know it is most appreciated! Now you can even use your credit card to make a donation! Please include any special prayer requests you would like us to remember. These intentions are prayed for by all the priests and brothers each day. It’s our simple way of saying “THANKS” to you who have been so good to us!
In Jesus, Our Bread of Life!
