Bread Broken & Shared: Winter 2019

Posted on January 3, 2019 by Anthony Marshall

What a wonderful experience our 25thProvincial Chapter was for all of our religious and those who followed us with their prayers!  We spent a week or prayer and reflection on our movement into the future trusting in the inspiration and guidance of the Holy Spirit and our Saintly Founder, Peter Julian Eymard.  The lead article of this issue fills you in on some of the activities of the Provincial Chapter. We also included photos that can help you to know the people we are talking about.  The new provincial leadership group is also announced.  We are grateful to all of you who prayed for the Chapter’s success.

Nancy MacRoberts a long-time parishioner of Corpus Christi Parish in Houston, Texas and an active and enthusiastic Associate and member of the Life in the Eucharist team, shares the excitement of new SSS religious in her parish.

Birthdays are real milestones.  In 2018 four of our religious celebrated their 90thbirthday!  We join with them in prayer for thanking God for the many blessings of these years. Our Congratulations as well to our newest Blessed Sacrament Bishop, Martin Boucar Tine SSS, in Senegal, Africa!

We are overjoyed to announce the publication of a new book on the history of the Congregation after the death of Saint Eymard by Father Norman B. Pelletier SSS.  This book will be an important resource for the entire Eymardian Family.  You can obtain a copy for yourself! From La Mure d’Isère in France, Father Norman shares some reflections on his recent transfer there.

In January we celebrate the yearly Christian Unity Octave.  Father Ernest in his regular contribution helps us to focus on this. Our Aggregation is alive and well. Jim Brown the director of the Center for Eucharistic Evangelizing updates us on what is happening.

Scott Gongos, our Development Director tells us how each of you can join us in assuring the financial future of the Province here in the USA.  Won’t you help us?  Father Anthony Marshall, our Vocation Director, tells us on the effects of Eucharistic Adoration on Young Adults.  Join us in prayer for vocations!

We hope that you find the time to read this entire issue and learn more about the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament and our ministry and mission – in this way, you can walk with us in the footsteps of our holy Founder, Saint Peter Julian Eymard.  In February we celebrate both Saint Eymard’s birth and baptismal day.  Join us in prayer!

Whatever gift you are able to make, know it is most appreciated! Please include any special prayer intentions you would like us to remember by clicking here. These intentions are prayed for by all the priests and brothers each day. It’s our simple way of saying “THANKS” to you who have been so good to us!
