Bread Broken & Shared: Winter 2018

Posted on January 13, 2018 by Anthony Marshall

2018 is a very special year for the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament! We want you to join us! We are inviting our readers and friends to partner more closely with us in our life and ministry by making a special Annual “Partners in Mission” Appeal Gift during 2018. These gifts are a concrete way of furthering the work and ministry of the religious of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament. We hope that you will respond to our appeal with your generosity. More information and a complete explanation can be read in the pages of this present issue of Bread Broken & Shared!

Father Provincial explains what the Annual Appeal 2018 is all about in this edition of the Bread Broken & Shared. Scott Gongos, our Director of Mission Advancement, shares some of the practical ways that you might be able to share more deeply in the life and mission of the religious of the Congregation. We highlight two of our religious in this issue – Father Michael Arkins SSS and Father John Christman SSS. These are real people – priests who are religious of the Congregation – who will benefit because of your willingness to help us.

Our missionaries from various provinces of the Congregation in Asia grace us with their presence each year. We want you to meet them and continue to pray for them and the growth of the Congregation throughout the world! Pray, too, for vocations to the priesthood and religious life in the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament in the USA!

Sadly, we announce the death of our Father Frederico Joseph Gabriel Ablog SSS after a tragic automobile accident in Houston, Texas. Our Provincial Superior was privileged to celebrate his life and his entrance into the glory of God our Father at his funeral at the Congregation’s parish in Houston, Texas. It is hard to believe that someone who was so full of life has died.

There are several other articles we encourage you to read. We hope that you find the time to read this entire issue and learn more about the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament and its ministry and mission – in this way, you can walk with us in the footsteps of our holy Founder, Saint Peter Julian Eymard.

Consider seriously a special Annual Appeal gift to the Congregation! Whatever gift you are able to make, know it is most appreciated! We are well aware that many of you contribute several times a year – we thank you abundantly for this! Now we are asking you for a special contribution! Please include any special prayer intentions you would like us to remember. These intentions are prayed for by all the priests and brothers each day. It’s our simple way of saying “THANKS” to you who have been so good to us!
