Two Special Feasts for the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament: Saint Ann, the patroness of our Province of Saint Ann on July 26th, and Saint Peter Julian Eymard, Founder of the Congregation, on August 2nd. The Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament invites you to join us in celebration because we consider you part of our Eucharistic family and are very happy to send this Summer 2018 issue of our newsletter, Bread Broken & Shared, to you!
The issue opens with an article about Saint Ann by the chaplain of our Saint Ann’s Shrine in Cleveland, Ohio. Father Roger Bourgeois SSS shares with us the importance of our celebration in honor of Saint Ann. Further on in the issue, on page 12, is the program for the Annual Triduum in honor of Saint Ann in Cleveland. Scott Gongos, Director of Mission Advancement for the Congregation, shares some further details on this important prayer experience and invites you to join with us in invoking the powerful intercession of Saint Ann for your needs. Our second article is an interesting one – it is a reprint from Catholic News Service about the impressive social outreach work of committed lay people in Cleveland as they respond to the needs of the homeless. Deacon Joseph Bourgeois SSS directs these efforts.
We are overjoyed that one of our religious, Father Lodovico Longari SSS, is moving closer to being canonized a saint. Please read about this on page 10. We welcome back to the Province Father Juancho Ramos, who recently arrived from the Philippines. He shares with our readers the story of his vocation.
Two important announcements are the Daily Eucharistic Reflections (page 13), and the translation of Father Norman Pelletier’s book Tomorrow Will be Too Late about Saint Peter Julian Eymard appearing in Spanish (page 7).
Father Anthony Marshall SSS, Vocation Director, shares the thoughts of Pope Francis on vocations to priesthood and religious life. Father Ernest Falardeau SSS highlights the importance of Interfaith Relations in his Ecumenical Corner article.
We hope that you find the time to read this entire issue and learn more about the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament and its ministry and mission – in this way, you can walk with us in the footsteps of our Founder, Saint Peter Julian Eymard.
There is still time to make a special gift to our Annual Appeal and help us reach our goal of $100,000. Whatever gift you are able to make, know it is most appreciated! Please include any special prayer intentions you would like us to remember by clicking here. These intentions are prayed for by all the priests and brothers each day. It’s our simple way of saying “THANKS” to you who have been so good to us!
