Bread Broken & Shared: Summer 2016

Posted on July 1, 2016 by Anthony Marshall

The Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament invites you to join us in celebration because we consider you part of our Eucharistic family and are very happy to send this Summer 2016 issue of our newsletter, Bread Broken & Shared, to you! This summer, we have two feasts for the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament: Saint Ann, the patroness of our Province of Saint Ann, on July 26th, and Saint Peter Julian Eymard, Founder of the Congregation, on August 2nd.

The latest issue opens with an article about the Novena (at Saint Jean Baptiste Church in New York City) and the Triduum (in Cleveland, Ohio at the Church of Saint Paschal Baylon) in honor of Saint Ann in July. Be sure to read the opening article for details on these two important prayer experiences and join with us in invoking the powerful intercession of Saint Ann for your needs. Our second article is an interesting one – detailing a connection between our Holy Father Pope Francis and the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament which goes back to the time when he was Archbishop of Buenos Aires in Argentina. An interesting and inspiring story!

We hope that you can join us for a very special event taking place in July, Celebrating the Gift of Self in the Year of Mercy, at our provincial headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio. It should be an impressive celebration and we are working hard on putting it together. Why not plan on coming? (See the details in this issue or click here).

We share the story of two of our SSS Vietnamese priests ministering here in the USA, in the Diocese of Saint Petersburg in Florida. Meet them and learn about their important and impressive ministry among Vietnamese Catholics.

We have reprinted two articles that we think will be of interest to you…. The first about our priests and brothers who need care at Regina Health Center in Richfield, Ohio and the second from the Florida Catholic about the success of the Life in the Eucharist Movement in the Diocese of Orlando in Florida under the direction of Father George Dunne SSS

Additional articles are about the new building for our seminarians in India, and the Life in the Eucharist with adults and young people in Cleveland. Father Anthony Marshall SSS, Vocation Director, shares a story of his efforts to promote vocations among young people and the recent Discernment Retreat that he hosted during the Paschal Triduum.

We hope that you find the time to read this entire issue and learn more about the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament and its ministry and mission – in this way, you can walk with us in the footsteps of our Founder, Saint Peter Julian Eymard.

Whatever gift you are able to make, know it is most appreciated! Please include any special prayer intentions here. These intentions are prayed for by all the priests and brothers each day. It’s our simple way of saying “THANKS” to you who have been so good to us!
