Bread Broken & Shared: Spring 2019

Posted on December 19, 2019 by Kay Vincent

As this newsletter of the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament goes out, the Church is beginning to observe the Holy Season of Lent which leads us through the Paschal Triduum to the celebration of Easter. Father Anthony Schueller SSS concentrates on this in his column.

Father Robert Stark SSS, had the honor of attending the Synod in Rome last year and we share with you some of the articles and photos of this important event.

We hear from two of our pastors in this issue, Father John Thomas Lane SSS and Father John Kamas SSS.  They share something about their lives and parishes.

We hope that you enjoy the recounting of Father Joselito Hitosis’ sabbatical experience which you will find in this number of the newsletter.

In January we celebrated the yearly Christian Unity Octave. Father Ernest Falardeau SSS reminds us that the celebration of Christian Unity is not only for one month of the year but for the whole year.

What a unique experience, some of our associates traveled to France and visited the places associated with Saint Peter Julian Eymard! We are sure that you will be interested in their reflections.

There is an update on the different websites of the province and what you can find on them.  We hope that you will take some time to explore these.

Scott Gongos, our Development Director, gives an update on our development efforts and the activity of Saint Ann’s Shrine. Father Anthony Marshall SSS, our vocation director, shares some statistics about vocations in the Church in the USA. Join us in prayer, especially for young men to consider joining our Congregation!

We hope that you find the time to read this entire issue and learn more about the Congregation of the Blessed Sacrament and its ministry and mission – in this way, you can walk with us in the footsteps of our holy Founder, Saint Peter Julian Eymard.  Join us in prayer!

Whatever gift you can make, know it is most appreciated! Please include any special prayer requests you would like us to remember on the enclosed reply form. These intentions are prayed for by all the priests and brothers each day. It’s our simple way of saying “THANKS” to you who have been so good to us!
