Easter Tuesday
Jesus is both Lord and Christ! (Acts 2:36)
It is beautiful to read the texts of the resurrection alongside these beautiful texts of Pentecost. It is also fascinating to see that the gospel of John joins the events of the resurrection with the descent of the Holy Spirit. This explains the resurrection as an act of recreation. The Spirit of God is at work. We see today Peter, who through fear, had denied any collaboration with Jesus, standing before this big crowd and proclaiming Jesus as Lord and Christ. The resurrection of Christ did not leave Peter the same. With the resurrection, Peter felt not only forgiven but also ready to take action. It was time for Peter to take the lead. It was time to practice all that he had learnt from his Master.
Dear Friends, as we celebrate the resurrection, just like Peter, let us feel the pardon of our sins. Let us get into action. After going through this season of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving, it is not the time to stop and relax. Let us intensify our prayer; let us feel the pain of our neighbors. Let us put the gospel of Christ into action. Without waiting for the Feast of Pentecost, let us put to use the gifts of the Holy Spirit we have received. Make someone happy this season. Let someone feel consoled by you. Be a reason for the family reunion. May someone find God again through you. Have the strength to be who you are, as created by God, and give Him glory through your life.
Let us pray:
Merciful Father, as we celebrate the day of the resurrection of your Son, may we feel ourselves recreated, that we may be transformed and help in the positive transformation of the world. Amen.
