Holy Saturday at the Easter Vigil in the Holy Night of Easter
We are made aware early in life that when we are baptized into Christ Jesus, we are also baptized into his death and resurrection. On this Holy Saturday, we strengthen ourselves by receiving the Eucharist. We consume Him every time we attend Mass. We are asked to become more Christ-like and live as Jesus taught.
We endure trials and tribulations during our lives, keeping our devotion to God and believing that the Lord will provide for our needs. Through love (God is the love), we must live selfless lives, humbly serving our sisters and brothers, no matter who they are. All of us, Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, Native Americans, and Jews, are all born with God within us as well. All are held in God’s loving embrace. We are asked to give our lives to God and trust, no matter the religion or tradition or the color of our neighbor. Remember the woman at the well? The good Samaritan?
Earlier generations were given the opportunity to gain wisdom for the benefit of future generations. The story of Abraham and Isaac is a great example. As the following generations use trust and wisdom, we should think of ourselves as being dead to sin and living for God. Generations later, Jesus’ teachings tell us how to live our lives today…. with all of His children, not just the ones with whom we are comfortable.
“Happy is the soul that knows how to find Jesus in the Eucharist, and the Eucharist in all things!” Saint Peter Julian Eymard
Let Us Pray:
Dear Lord, from the beginning of creation, through time and generations, help us to renew our faith in you. Through the Eucharist, strengthen our love for all our brothers and sisters.
